Phil Scott, Rutland Mayor Chris Louras and area business leaders will hold a press conference in Mendon on Tuesday to announce an expansion of the annual Wheels for Warmth tire sale and recycling event. The 11th annual tire sale will be held on Saturday, October 31, 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., at both DuBois Construction in Middlesex and Casella Construction in Mendon. The Mendon sale is a new addition, and program organizers hope it will help better serve people in the Southern Vermont region. Proceeds from both sales will benefit heating assistance programs at community action agencies around the state, such as Capstone Community Action and BROC Community Action.

Since the program began in 2005, Wheels for Warmth has raised more than $253,500 for emergency fuel assistance, sold 12,500 safe donated tires, and recycled almost 20,500 unsafe, unusable tires. For more information, please visit www.wheelsforwarmth.org or visit the program’s Facebook page.
